Minnesota Population Center
The IPUMS Terra project is led by the Minnesota Population Center (MPC). The MPC is a University-wide interdisciplinary cooperative for demographic research, serving more than 100 faculty members and research scientists from ten colleges and institutes at the University of Minnesota. As a leading developer and disseminator of demographic data, the MPC also serves a broader audience of some 50,000 demographic researchers worldwide.
Institute on the Environment
The Institute on the Environment (IonE) provides expertise on data fusion and usability and data access for environmental data. IonE is solving the world’s greatest environmental challenges through transformative approaches to research, leadership development and engagement with emphasis on energy, food, freshwater, population and development. Through the Global Landscapes Initiative (GLI), the Institute on the Environment is working to understand extreme land use changes, to improve our ability to balance human needs with environmental stewardship, and to promote secure landscapes across the globe.
The University of Minnesota Libraries facilitates key connections between IPUMS Terra and scientific communities and provides insights on organizational sustainability. The Libraries have led the development of major digital library projects, including significant international collaborations, publisher partnerships, and large-scale production systems. Additional cyberinfrastructure activities currently underway include the Antarctica Geospatial Information Center; the TechLens project to investigate the use of citations, personal bibliographies, and metadata to synthesize recommender systems for library users; the EthicShare project, a virtual community for bioethicists that includes harvested collections, content resolution services, and collaboration tools; and HarvestChoice, which employs “bibliospatial” system interoperability to help guide strategic agricultural investments in sub-Saharan Africa.
Center for International Earth Science Information Network
The Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) works at the intersection of the social, natural, and information sciences, and specializes in online data and information management, spatial data integration and training, and interdisciplinary research related to human interaction with the environment. CIESIN assists in accessing and transforming key data inputs such as georeferenced administrative boundary data and remote sensing data. CIESIN also contributes to metadata and data stewardship activities, and coordinates dissemination to the natural science community.

Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research
The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) is the world’s largest social science data archive and the home of the Data Documentation Initiative Alliance, an organization dedicated to developing metadata standards for data collections. ICPSR contributes expertise on designing metadata, configuring and implementing a distributed preservation and replication structure, and devising IPUMS Terra's confidentiality framework.

Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE)
Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE) is the foundation of new innovative environmental science through a distributed framework and sustainable cyberinfrastructure that meets the needs of science and society for open, persistent, robust, and secure access to well-described and easily discovered Earth observational data. The MPC is participating in DataONE as a member node, making our data discoverable through the DataONE network.
